Since Anja is busy receiving a foot massage and being fed grapes by the other pilots, I have been assigned to the task of writing todays report.
Becoming spoiled by the quality of flying the past couple of weeks, this day was not up to our standards, which in other parts of the world, would still be a great day. So Anja, Rico, Räto, and myself decided to take a stroll thru the forest to get a closer look at a monastery we see from the air every day.
To say the stroll thru the forest was beautifull, would be an understatement (see bottom photo with trees). At times the sound of the creatures living in the forest was louder than our voices, which really set the mood for our entrance into a grand Tibetan monastery. Since there is no way to describe this, you need to just come and see for yourself.
After this, we took another stroll into a much denser part of the jungle to see a series of prayer wheels. Considering how this crazy sport often brings you close to your mortality, I jumped at the opportunity to follow Anja through the series of prayer wheels, hoping for a safe return for all.
The walk back was met by a refreshing little swimming hole that could not be passed up. After a little swim, we hiked out of the forest, thru Tibetan and Indian villages, onto rice fields that were glowing from the evening sunset.
Who says you need to die to experience a little bit of heaven!
